I've actually beaten a couple missions on hard with unupgraded disc masters though. If it also had achievements, and just as many as there could be like Beat a mission using only Unupgraded Disc Masters, or have 4 Ravagers at one time, or maybe even purchase 5 sentry guns with just 3 guys left alive. a game I'd play over and over and perfect it, if it were on Steam.
I've never beaten that mission, purely because AI pathing in small corridoors with marines just.īut AVP: Extinction, even with the ass-backwards AI pathing, was really fun and honestly. It really makes it hell when you need to plant a damn bomb. Going through small areas, some guys go the opposite direction, even if they can go in the direction you order them, and they don't stop until you select each unit singularily or a couple units at a time. How so? Play the 2nd last Marine campaign mission, and you'll f**king know EXACTLY what I mean. A custom level that has no ai paths, causing bots to just roam around the spawn or run in place. If you call two medics and a Comm Tech, but they have to run through half the Alien-infested map to reach your squad, they're just going to die and you've wasted your cash.AVP: Extinction is actually really good, if you ignore the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrendous pathing which puts The PAthing of a custom-made Unreal Tournament level to shame. Try to be near a landing zone when you call in reinforcements. Not a bad choice if you're hunkered down in a single spot, but the army on the move would be better off using the Pop points to buy four SmartGunners. Yes it's strong, but it takes up four population points, is painfully slow and requires a Comm Tech to repair. The ExoSuit may look tempting, but think before you buy one. This may take some time, but it's far better than wasting population points leaving sentry guns to guard the things when they're just going to stop working in a minute or two anyway. When you find an Atmo, have the whole team camp out in front if it while the Comm Tech repairs it, and stick around until the thing finally explodes for lack of energy. You should never have less than two medics or Comm Techs in your party, or else you're just asking for trouble.
Since the humans are dependent upon specific units in order to accomplish the most basic tasks, be sure to bring along extras. This can be time consuming, but so is dying. Whenever anyone is injured in a fight, stop and heal the party before moving on.If any of these guys die, you're pretty much screwed unless you've used pop points on hiring redundant soldiers.įurthermore, the twenty second wait for soldiers and the inability to determine their precise landing spot also make life difficult. For example, medics are needed to heal, Comm Techs to call in reinforcements and so on. Weaknesses: Many of the abilities that are intrinsic in the other species require their own units in humans. The Sniper, Sentry Guns and even the SmartGunner are all excellent at keeping enemies from getting close enough to use melee attacks. Strengths: While no individual unit is as deadly at range as, say, the Predators' Stalker, the Marines are the best overall range fighters. Predator: Extinctions does provide a few benefits to the human cause that make the mission to defeat the Aliens and Predators a little easier. Still, there are seven Marine missions in the game that need beating and, fortunately, Aliens Vs.
Heck, they're not even in the game's title. The marines have firepower, certainly, but they don't have the warrior skills of the Predator or the ferocity and speed of the Aliens.
